Ruston McLean will complete his MBA at Thunderbird School of Global Management in May 2013. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies, with a focus on China, from Wittenberg University in 2004. After completing his undergraduate degree, Ruston relocated to Nanjing, China, where he continued his language studies at Nanjing Normal University.
Prior to attending Thunderbird, Ruston spent six years immersed in Chinese culture and business practices, growing his professional experience and sharpening his language skills. In 2008 he joined Beijing-based David Diebold & Associates, where as a consulting associate he conducted research and cooperated with local associates to navigate Chinese regulatory bureaus for a newly developed $1billion Chinese medical complex. Drawing from his experience in China, Ruston led a field consulting project in the summer of 2012 for Thunderbird's Career Management Center, focused on matching the recruiting needs of businesses in China with Thunderbird's unique, globally minded graduate talent.
A self-taught tech enthusiast, Ruston grew up building computer systems and enjoys exploring, troubleshooting, and repairing consumer electronics. After completing his MBA, Ruston plans to pursue a consulting position where he can apply his business education, experience in China, and passion for technology. In the long term, Ruston would like to explore tech-related indigenous innovation and nascent inventive entrepreneurial phenomena in China.
