Jason Bluming

General Manager, Technical Strategy, Microsoft

Jason Bluming is a general manager in Microsoft's Strategic Software / Silicon Architectures division. In this role, Jason's focus is on strategic changes in the technology and business landscape and their impact across the breadth of Microsoft's businesses. Jason is also charged with the executive alignment with Microsoft's largest silicon partner.

Jason's experience at Microsoft has covered business and technology roles in both the enterprise and consumer sectors, always focused on the marriage of software, services, and hardware solutions that create new market opportunities.

Before Jason's current role, he served as GM Strategy and CTO of the $1.7B Specialized Devices & Applications division, including Microsoft Hardware, Windows Embedded, Microsoft Surface, and Mac Office. Prior to that, he was a general manager in the Microsoft Hardware division, where he managed multiple P&Ls, including the launch of the desktop audio / video communications business, several product engineering organizations, and the Windows Live Devices Ecosystem team that managed business and technical engagements for all OEM device partners for Windows Live communications services.

Jason joined Microsoft as the director of Marketing for the Distributed Meetings team, where he was responsible for creating the business strategy and product user experience, and helping to bring the company's innovative 360-degree audio / video communications product offering, Microsoft RoundTable, from research incubation to enterprise launch.

Before joining Microsoft, Jason spent much of his career in venture-backed startups, feeding his passion for creating new business opportunities through the balance of great technology and innovative business strategies. Jason's past roles include executive positions at Summit Sciences / Boardware, Abridge, Bowstreet (acquired by IBM), NetMarket (acquired by Cendant/CUC) - where he served on the founding World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) working groups for both Security and Payment and on the Joint Electronic Payments Initiative (JEPI) - MecklerWeb (MeckerMedia / Internet.com), and Enterprise Integration Technologies (acquired by Verifone / HP).

Jason holds a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from M.I.T., an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University, and a MBA from the Harvard Business School. He lives in Seattle with the girl of his dreams and two princesses thankfully cut from the same mold.
