Bill Mannion

CMO, Coventry Computer

Bill Mannion is chief marketing officer of Pattern Computer Inc., a startup in stealth mode. Bill is responsible for all marketing, sales, customer programs, communications, and technical publications. Bill is an industry veteran in marketing, sales, product marketing, go-to-market programs, and partner programs. Prior to Coventry, Bill worked at Microsoft, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co., and Sony.

At Microsoft, Bill was general manager of Global Device Partners in Microsoft's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) division. Bill managed a team of roughly 50 people, which led the worldwide partner account relationships with a portfolio of Asia-based OEM and Original Device Manufacturer (ODM) partner accounts that build, sell, and market servers, PCs, tablets, phones, and other connected devices.

Prior to this role, Bill was the senior director of Windows Consumer and Small Business Audience Marketing, with worldwide responsibility for the go-to-market efforts driving awareness and sales of Windows to consumer and small-business customers. Bill also managed the Windows International Marketing Team, which drives field communication and sales accountabilities with the Windows leads in Microsoft's local subsidiaries. Prior to that, he served as director of channel marketing for Windows, working closely with Microsoft's retail and OEM marketing teams and their partners, where he established the hardware engagement model that Microsoft follows with retail partners to this day.

At Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co., Bill spent 11 years, most recently as vice president and general manager of Panasonic's North American Display Division, with P/L responsibility for TV and consumer video products.

At Sony, Bill started as an engineer and later as the lead for an internal venture initiative to integrate, market, and sell Sony products in turnkey systems for use in sports instruction.

Bill is a graduate of Bucknell University, with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Japanese language, and spent a year studying at Waseda University in Tokyo. He is a founding member of the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers and has served as a member of the Consumer Electronics Association's video board. He has been quoted in articles in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and Fortune, and has been interviewed on news programs from networks including CNN, CBS, NBC, and NHK.
