John Lindsay is a maker, technologist, and entrepreneur. He is currently working with SNS member Simon Hackett helping early- and growth-stage technology and Internet businesses develop and thrive. He also provides professional advice on all aspects of building and running Internet service businesses.

John is a member of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association, a member and former director of the Australian Internet Industry Association, and a professional member of the Australian Computer Society. He lives with his wife and children in Adelaide, South Australia; enjoys DIY home renovations, electric vehicles, electronics, Perl coding, rail transport, and fine wine; and has an interest in improving science, technology, engineering, and maths education.

John founded a technology startup with two school friends, consulting, writing software, designing embedded computers, and creating devices for vision-impaired computer users. Later he founded a marketing company that was very successful until then-Prime Minister Keating said Australia was having "the recession we had to have." All of its clients canceled their contracts and were astounded when their sales immediately stopped.

After creating a 30-modem dialup ISP in his spare bedroom and getting people to pay a monthly subscription to use it, John was a founder and technical director of a startup ISP, iiNet South Australia; restructured and managed Chariot Internet; was part of the team that IPO'ed Perth ISP iiNet Ltd (ASX:IIN); and then managed most regulatory, technical, and commercial areas of national ISP Internode until its sale to Australia's second-largest ADSL, ISP iiNet Ltd, in 2012.

After the sale, John was invited to become iiNet's chief technology officer, with an annual network operations budget over half a billion dollars. He grew iiNet's private global IP network to cover eight countries with over 150 gigabits of lit capacity into Australia, servicing over one million broadband and mobile end points.
