Meghan O'hara

Director, Lion in the Sun Films

Meghan O'Hara began her career directing / writing / producing the documentary film Roe vs. Roe: Baptism by Fire for HBO/Cinemax, which was a deeply personal look at the tumultuous life of Norma McCorvey, aka Jane Roe of the epic Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade.

As a producer, Meghan's credits include award-winning features SICKO, Fahrenheit 9/11, and Bowling for Columbine - three of the top-grossing documentaries of all time. She has collaborated with documentary pioneers Michael Moore, Alex Gibney, Barbara Kopple, and Sheila Nevins.

In 2016, Meghan directed, wrote and produced The C Word, an award-winning, feature-length documentary film on the revolution in cancer prevention, Executive Produced and narrated by Morgan Freeman. After a long festival run, and a theatrical release, the film is currently available on Netflix.

In 2017, she took her talents to Broadway, producing the 12 week run of The Terms of My Surrender at the historic Belasco theater. Working with famed Broadway Director Michael Mayer she was involved in every step of the production from set design, to scripting the show, and booking nightly guests including Meryl Streep, Jim Carey, Gloria Steinem, Rob Reiner, Bryan Cranston and many more.

In the TV space, she Created, Directed and Executive Produced the critically acclaimed IFC Media Project television series, which ran for three seasons. She served as EP on the comedy special Jeff Ross Roast Cops for Comedy Central and was the EP of National Geographic's reboot of the Explorer series. Most recently, she Executive Produced season 2 of the documentary series Dirty Money, in association with Alex Gibney's Jigsaw Productions and Netflix.

Her awards include a 2008 Academy Award nomination for Best Feature Documentary, a Producers Guild Award for Producer of the Year for a Documentary Feature, and the 2007 Gotham Award for Best Documentary.
