In his role as president and COO of SkyFiber Inc., David Achim has leveraged more than 25 years of proven sales, marketing, and operational expertise in providing leadership and guidance throughout all aspects of the corporation.
Before joining SKYFIBER™ in October 2008, David served as president and CEO for ROME Corp., a Houston-based company providing enterprise credit-risk management software to the energy and financial services business sectors. During his tenure with ROME, David and his team doubled company revenues every year from 2005 to 2007, resulting in ROME's recognition in 2007 by Inc. magazine as one of the 500 fastest-growing companies in North America. ROME was on track to again double revenue in 2008 when David successfully negotiated its sale to TriplePoint Technology in June.
David began his technology career at Burroughs in Houston, Texas. He has held roles of increasing executive responsibility at Viewstar, Action Technologies, and Gemplus, where he negotiated strategic multimillion-dollar relationships with Compaq, IBM, and Microsoft. As regional vice president of sales at Selectica, David developed numerous strategic partnerships and exceeded revenue delivery goals, both of which were instrumental to the company's recognition of a successful public offering.
In his role leading the Global Sales and Marketing division for portal software leader Epicentric, David was responsible for orchestrating a multimillion-dollar OEM relationship with a global telecommunications leader, contributing to the successful sale of the company to Austin-based Vignette Corp.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
David has been involved as an advisory board member for over eight years in the Houston-based Homes with Hope charity. This organization works with local churches to find homes for foster children, with the goal of transitioning to permanent adoption. David is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling with his family whenever possible.
