Gopal K. Chopra, M.D., is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has built his career focused on building, advising, and financing technology-enabled healthcare companies. Gopal has over 25 years of strategic advisory, investment, and operational experience in the healthcare sector, working with early-stage as well as large-cap private and public companies, in developed and emerging markets.
Gopal has been part of the Robotic, Image Guidance, and Minimally Invasive Surgical transformations in medical technology. He was most recently senior investment banker in the healthcare group of Lazard Frères with a focus on medical devices and diagnostics, where he advised public and private companies in acquisitions, IPOs, PIPEs, and private financings.
Gopal has practiced as a neurosurgeon on many continents, including Australia, India, and Canada and the U.S. He has held faculty appointments at Stanford University and the University of Melbourne and is currently an associate professor at the Fuqua School of Business. Gopal has co_founded and served as key strategic advisor to several transformational healthcare startups and also worked at Boston Scientific Corp. in business development. Gopal is now embarking on developing companies that cater to the consumer healthcare space and is founder and chairman of Dauphin Health.
Gopal holds an M.D. in Surgery from the University of Melbourne; a FRACS in Neurosurgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons; and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University.
