Mario Juric

Professor and Director, DiRAC Institute, University of Washington

Mario Juric is an associate professor of Astronomy and the director of the Data-Intensive Research in Astronomy and Cosmology (DiRAC) Institute at the University of Washington.

DiRAC is an interdisciplinary institute within the University of Washington's Astronomy department, whose mission is to expand the frontiers of astrophysics enabled by breakthroughs in large surveys, data-intensive algorithms, and software. DiRAC has been a partner on a number of transformative astronomical survey projects, including co-founding the LSST (now the Rubin Observatory).

Mario's research focuses on computational and data analysis aspects of astronomy, astrophysics, and science in general. He is interested in methods and software that enable the use of large scientific datasets to solve experimental and theoretical problems. In astrophysics, he studies the solar system of our galaxy, the Milky Way.
