» Defining Security There are some dark clouds out there.
Sometimes we encounter situations in which technology, and its providers, collide with customer interests. Usually this is a schizophrenic situation: customer priorities split, and there is no perfect single-technology solution.
Over the last couple of months, we at SNS have been looking at the issues behind what we (and others now) are calling “Infrastructure 2.0.” By this, we mean, in general, the (usually remote) data-center infrastructure that will be providing (usually remote) services in 3-5 years. One view of this evolution envisions commoditized servers in racks ( la Rackspace) that can be hot-swapped as needed, virtualized and with automatic management of load allocation, redundant data storage, and failure/recovery systems.
