SNS launched its first FiReGlobal : West Coast Conference on October 15, bringing together world-class minds in technology and economics in the form of a 12-hour, locally focused, solution-oriented meeting of local and world thought leaders. The conference, held at the Seattle Four Seasons hotel, is the first designed to posit innovative solutions to large-scale regional problems.

 

Speakers tackled a gamut of issues, including ocean sciences, education, energy independence, broadband access, and biomedicine. Problems specific to the region were selected beforehand by a 50-person steering committee composed of community leaders. Working groups of CTOs addressed methods of encouraging entrepreneurialism in the state and encouraging the rise of government 2.0.
