There is an illusion afoot in the technology world that technology matters more than those who work with it; that the mousetrap is more important than those who create, market, and sell it. Those greybeards who have been around a while know the absolute falsehood of this belief.

In technology, as in almost all things, Individuals Matter.

While the world faces many challenges today, there is one challenge, to my mind, that rises above all others in its threat to humanity: the idea that we can’t change things, that the individual has lost her power to affect the largest-scale painting of our future. If you wanted to guarantee the end of the species today, all you would have to do would be to convince children that things are hopeless.

Lucky for the world, it is untrue.
