“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

 

 – The opening line of A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, depicting life before and during the French Revolution in Paris and London. The book was published in 31 weekly installments in Dickens’ own All The Year Round literary periodical, beginning April 30, 1859, and it is the most-read book in the English language, with 200MM copies printed.

 

A couple of months ago, I predicted that 2010 would be a record year in sales for two key industries: Personal Computers and Cars. For those who understand the roles these two items play in the global economic universe, this is all better-than-good news. It suggests that the global economy is moving forward, dramatically.
