Rising Stars at FiRe 2011: Bring Your Young Company Stars with You to FiRe

SNS MEMBERS: In last year's post-conference survey, many of you indicated a desire to see younger talent joining us. Today, we are excited to announce our new Future in Review (FiRe) Conference 2011 *Rising Stars* program, created for your most talented young team members.

We are inviting senior company members who are paid attendees for FiRe 2011 to register, as their guests, up to 2 young stars from their company, at a strong discount. Your Rising Star guests will receive a unique opportunity to experience the power of FiRe, along with up to 200 C-level executives in world technology, finance, telecommunications, government, and more, covered by the highest level of both domestic and global press.

Space is limited for this new program, so registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Qualifying Rising Stars employees of your company who are age 35 or under and are not yet registered for the FiRe conference will receive a discounted registration fee of $2,900. (That's $2,000 below the normal rate.)

Please register your Rising Stars as soon as possible by contacting Lauren at lauren@stratnews.com or 617-733-5686.

Your Rising Stars will join you for 4 days of learning and problem solving with the experts, in the areas of:

Nation-State Hackers, Improving Cloud Infrastructure, Chips in Five Years, Privacy at Risk, CarryAlong Pads & 4G Devices, The Future of Photonics, Personal Health & the Quantified Self, The Car-Computing Revolution, IPTV: Hardware and Software, Polar Ice and Climate Change, Investing in Films, Energy-Efficient Architecture, Remote Viewing from Undersea Cities, Protecting Intellectual Property, Embedded Machine Vision, The FiRe Sundance Film Selection, Next-Gen Voice Recognition, Fixing Healthcare: Systems Medicine and Emerging Technologies, Global Investing, Capturing Carbon, Financial Risk in the Global Economy, Telepresence Entertainment, The (now-famous) Annual FiRe CTO Design Challenge and much more.

We look forward to seeing you and your Rising Stars in May.

This year's theme for the Future in Review (FiRe) Conference is "Technology Driving Global Economics."

You can learn more about FiRe 2011 at our website, www.futureinreview.com.

It's going to be another amazing event, at another fantastic location the Montage Laguna Beach: http://www.montagelagunabeach.com

Our opening evening will feature a conversation between myself and Richard Marshall, Director of Global Cyber Security Management, Department of Homeland Security, on the subject of "Economic Cyberwar."

Since our first conversation on this subject at the New York Predictions Dinner in December, this has become perhaps the hottest topic in security. Having advised the Symantec board of directors on its market repercussions, and now working with Accenture to create a half-day program on this subject in London in July, SNS appears to be the leading source on the integration of economics and security that underlie this issue. I have now done two Bloomberg TV interviews on the subject, and we are in the planning for two more. I look forward to providing our participants with the latest information on how this new challenge will impact their countries and companies.

Here are some of the speakers and subjects arranged to date, with many more coming up in the next few weeks:

New FiRe speakers include past Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers, Ira Kalish and John Hagel of Deloitte, and Greg McRae of Morgan Stanley. We are in the process of adding several new panels, and you can expect to see another dozen or more new speakers over the next week or two.

Ford CTO Paul Mascarenas will be with us to talk with us about the Ford Co.'s leadership drive in telematics, in-dash content and communications, SYNC and its related technologies, and what we are calling the Revolution in Car Computing.

Of course, our Global Energy Partner Tesla Motors and its team will be there as well, with the new all-electric sedan (haven't seen that one yet, eh?); fast, silent cars to drive; and a new 17-inch hi-res dash screen that you'll drool over.

Both our headcount and our sponsorships are ahead of last year, and, one should add, Yes, we're having fun. Seats are again limited, so sign up soon, and avoid the next price hike on March 31 as well: www.futureinreview.com.

» The Divisive Effect of e-Services

as Companies Converge and Countries Separate

Two divergent tendencies are becoming almost painfully obvious among companies and countries. The fact that both are driven by the same motive force that of the growth of e-Services makes their differences all the more striking.

This week, the world of cloud-based services got much busier and more competitive, if not more focused, as Amazon announced a new offering in content provision and Hewlett-Packard CEO Leo Apotheker told his first analyst meeting that HP would be offering cloud-based services soon.
