» The Landscape in 2012: Skiing Through the Boulders

In this world of accelerating global warming, the U.S. is experiencing one of its worst ski years in memory. Most resorts are closed or have severely cut back on runs during this post-Christmas season, and those resorts which are open are generally offering manmade snow. The resulting terrain is a good metaphor for that facing managers and investors this year: perfect runs where one can find them, framed by an overabundance of treacherous problems.

While I generally release a more basic piece on the economic landscape at about this time of year, I have decided that the potential difficulties facing planners make a good argument for focusing on these and getting them out in the open and under view and discussion.
