Bobby Purkait

President and CEO, NivaSonix, LLC

Bobby Purkait has more than 20 years of experience as a corporate executive in the medical/healthcare industry and has been successful in developing projects, startups, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and executing acquisitions; technology transfers; and licensing agreements in the Aesthetic, Dermatology, Urology, and Ophthalmic markets.

Bobby has founded two aesthetic/dermatology companies since 2005, currently serving as president and CEO of NivaSonix, a non-invasive, ultrasound-based fat-reduction and skin-tightening company; and as chairman of Neosthetic, a breast implant company. These companies are founded to pursue unique new opportunities with products that are based on cutting-edge science and technology which will provide a superior and easier solution of treatment for patients.

Bobby began his career in the medical device industry with Abbott Laboratories, where he was responsible for disposable critical devices; served as senior executive in American Edwards Laboratories for cardiovascular products; and moved to Mentor Corp. (currently JNJ) as senior vice president of Science and Technology. Since joining Mentor Corp., Bobby has led the company to become the largest and most successful company in the aesthetic, dermatology, and urology markets. During this time period, Bobby had global responsibility for all aspects of research and development, product development, regulatory, clinical, quality assurance, process, operation and new business development, and P&L for special products.

Bobby successfully introduced many flagship products for Mentor Corp., including breast implants, tissue expanders, the ultrasonic liposuction system, penile implants, brachytherapy products, and intraocular lenses (IOLs). He successfully licensed and developed improved botulinum toxin technologies for cosmetic and therapeutic markets, including establishing a BL3 manufacturing facility for toxin production.

Bobby has extensive knowledge and expertise in "fast track" product commercialization, from concept to launch, including development, clinical studies, and regulatory approvals. He is an expert in researching and identifying new trends in medical technologies and assessing new technologies for integration into a company's product portfolio. He has also been granted more than 12 patents for his inventions in the area of medical devices and material technology.

Bobby has degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of London, U.K., and the University of New York. He has completed an executive business program at Stanford University. Bobby has completed many certifications, such as quality and reliability organization and regulatory institutions, from various institutions, and is also a member of the International Harmonization Working Group for CE marking.
