Rene Hart is a Brooklyn-based musician, composer, and bassist. He has performed at major jazz and multi-genre music festivals, including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, and on television on the Tonight Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He has played extensively with musical artists from the American jazz tradition, rock / pop / folk, and experimental fields. He has recorded and / or performed with Julian Priester, Bill McHenry, Don Braden, Dakota Staton, Myra Melford, James Hunter, Joan Osborne, Branford Marsalis, Pete Seeger, Anat Fort, Robert Pinsky, Steven Bernstein, David Amram, Wayne Horvitz, Janis Ian, Mark Ronson, Butch Morris, Arnie Lawrence, and Satoko Fujii.

Rene's work draws from a wide range of influences. He is recognized for using a unique mix of acoustic music and electronics in an innovative and humanistic way. Much of his composing and performing style addresses the way people experience and interact with music. Currently he is developing real-time visual and musical environments using a mix of audience bio data and sound analysis.

Rene is a founding member of the Brooklyn-based music collective Honey Ear Trio, which includes saxophonist Jeff Lederer and drummer Allison Miller.

The trio's debut recording, Steampunk Serenade, was released to critical acclaim as "one of the year's most impressive debuts" (Time Out NY) for its unique sound and "dark pop sensibilities." In addition to performing with Honey Ear Trio, Allison, Rene, and Jeff each have their own wide-ranging careers, which collectively include performances with musicians as diverse as Branford Marsalis, Ani DiFranco, and Pete Seeger, and compositions performed by the Chicago Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
