Dr. Chris Apfel is an impact investor, board member, and the CEO of SageMedic Corp, ("SAGE"). He started SAGE in keeping with his personal commitment to invest his time and money in breakthrough life-science technologies. As his father succumbed to cancer, he saw that cancer therapy is still hit or miss for most patients. He knew we could do more, so he developed a high-throughput 3D functional profiling microtumor test to take precision medicine to a higher level. Before that he was a practicing clinician at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) with over 100 peer-reviewed publications. One of these publications described the Apfel score that became textbook knowledge and changed clinical practice globally. Dr. Apfel received his MD/PhD from the University of Giessen, Germany, and his MBA from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, PA.
