Jeannie Fontana, MD, PhD, is a healthcare innovator who is passionate about improving the lives of millions through medical research and the development of novel therapeutics. Initially inspired by her mother's ALS diagnosis, she has made significant contributions to ALS research, patient care, and policy.
As a founding trustee of the $8.5B California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Jeannie was instrumental in building the infrastructure for the regenerative-medicine space and leading the agency to develop FDA-approved stem-cell therapies.
Currently, as the CEO of TREAT California, Jeannie is focused on a $5B citizen-driven ballot initiative to build the psychedelic medicine ecosystem, fund research, and make these therapies accessible. Her multidisciplinary expertise, including degrees in internal medicine, environmental toxicology, and biochemistry and molecular biophysics, makes her a transformative leader in healthcare.
