As most members know, Japan has just thrown out the LDP Party, and on the 16th of September will install a new prime minister from a party that has never before governed. In this Asia Letter issue, SNS Asia Editor Scott Foster lays out the view from Tokyo on what this will mean to Japan, China, and the world.

This is a must-read for anyone doing business in Asia.

Next week, we will have a Special Letter from global oceans expert Roger Payne, who will also be speaking at our upcoming FiReGlobal : West Coast event in Seattle, October 15th:

I’ll note that our lead speaker for that day, University of Washington researcher John Delaney, has just received the largest grant in the history of the university – $126MM – which itself is the largest recipient of federal grants in the U.S.

It should be a fascinating day, as we work on issues ranging from Ocean Health to Smart Grids, Healthcare, Technology in Education, and Clean Energy, with speakers including Michael Dell, Nobelist Lee Hartwell, Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs, and Roger Payne. And now, on to Asia’s future.  – mra.
