» FiReGlobal : What We’re Watching Now
In a couple of weeks, we’ll be hosting our second annual FiReGlobal : West Coast conference. Putting on a conference is interesting to us, and hopefully to members and the investing and innovating public, because it gives us a chance to step back; look at major themes, trends, and predictions; find the outliers; bring in the sharp new companies in those arenas; and, if all goes to plan, help participants see what others will only see much, much later.
Kind of like suggesting Microsoft buy Adobe half a year ago, and then watching Adobe stock go up last week after Steve Ballmer visited Adobe’s management for a wee chat. Or suggesting last December that (SNS member) Ray Ozzie was going to leave Microsoft, followed by the announcement this week.
So I’ve been spending some serious cycles on looking at the world today, and trying to instill my sense of what’s coming up into our FiReGlobal agenda. For that reason, it seemed like providing the first public view of those choices to our members, accompanied by comments on the reasoning for these selections, would give you a broad view forward.
