The Physics of Biology:
Connecting Life, Evolution, Energy, and the Second Law

By Mark Anderson

I don't think any of our SNS members would suggest that we are reluctant to take on the more difficult questions in science and nature, and we know from our recent member survey that, after Strategy, your second-favorite subject in SNS issues is Hard Science.

I would hazard a guess that hardly a breakfast conversation goes by in some member's home when he or she doesn't suddenly drop fork or spoon, turn to partner or spouse, and exclaim:

"Not only is it amazing how rarely the sciences of physics and biology are discussed together, but it's a travesty - a form of intellectual laziness!"

Yes, you know who you are, and we've been listening. So, this week, we're going to discuss some exciting new paths to the application of one to the other, which should keep your Zoom (oops, Teams) buddies happy and preoccupied for at least a few days.
