In the realm of family rivalries, I can think of few as under-the-radar and yet so consequential as that between Nvidia CEO (and SNS member) Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su. It's a unique situation. Nvidia and AMD are the two largest competitors in the fabless artificial-intelligence GPU space. Both have angled in recent years to design the world's most cutting-edge GPUs to supply the computing backbone for generative AI mania. What gets less attention - and makes things even more interesting - is the fact that Huang is a cousin of Su's mother.
And yet, despite the fact that they are directly related by both blood and commerce, Su and Huang largely profess not to know one another on a personal level. |
