THE PERFECT MOBILE DEVICE The phone of the future does not exist. By Berit Anderson
Why Read: A vision for the future of mobile devices, how to prepare for their arrival, and how to stay sane in the meantime. ____ The FAANG+ set has spent an inordinate amount of time and money developing the next iteration of the iPhone - e.g., Meta's Ray-Bans, Apple's watches and Vision Pro, Samsung's folding phone, Humane's AI Pin. In a previous SNS Global Report, I wrote about the rise of invisibility as a metric of consumer technology success. And I made the rather bold statement that technologies that did not fit the invisibility metric moving forward would struggle to succeed. In other words, in the consumer market, if a technology doesn't feel seamless to use and doesn't blend into existing habits, it won't sell. By that metric, I predicted that the Apple Vision Pro, like Google Glass before it, would be a consumer flop. How's that going? |
